If you really miss it, you can buy a cartridge gas stove and just use that for that one application. I haven’t missed it nearly enough to bother busting it out, though.

I used to swear by gas and never wanted to change. Moved to a place with 200v induction and haven’t looked back. I have a gas cartridge stove for disaster prep reasons, but I could also pull it out if I really wanted to blast something in a wok or the like (and could do that outside).

It’s only 22.2 where I am, but I’m north and it’s raining. Not looking forward to this summer.

Google maps generally does well in Japanese cities, but they’re mostly meant to be walkable anyway. It even knows about elevated routes over roads in many cities.

I was doing a code review this week. There was nothing wrong with the code in terms of structure or performance, but it was doing this really weird operation with an ID after DB insert. I asked about it and the author was like “yeah, that’s weird; I don’t know why the AI did that. I’ll remove it.” My dude, I know you can write good code. Don’t be lazy!
