so i switched from i s21 to a nothing phone 1 with lineageOS, and when i try to play a video before like the beginning of 2026 it either doesn’t play (was like that on the default gallery app and fossify gallery) or it plays but its extremely stuttering. I’m not sure if it’s 'cause my nothing phone can’t like handle the videos from my s21, but when i watch videos from a couple of months ago its fine?!?!?!?!?? help

i tried using a linux machine with plasma bigscreen but it just wasn’t for me, and I kinda miss my chromecast’s simplicity. So is there any streaming box or whatever that’s decently easy to set up and also respects my privacy? I know that it’s basically impossible but I just want to know what the best option is. Also I’m in europe so no Onn. boxes and stuff. I would also like it to be second hand since the prices are a bit better

I have looked for SO long, I’ve tried every icon pack on f-droid, I’ve looked through the play store multiple times (either they were ugly or collected all of my precious data 🥹), I’ve even tried to make my own icon pack with renkin but it barely works (I’m not interested in fixing it) SO I just need some icon packs to look through

also I’m pretty picky, and I want either funny/kinda cursed or something that isn’t flat design and monochrome

I’m using lunar client and its pretty decent but im kinda worried about data collection. It’s probably not horrible but still, i want to be pretty sure that it doesn’t collect any data, or atleast not a lot. I want something like lunar just more private and maybe foss as well? Also it needs to work on linux

basically like a more privacy-friendly version of an android tv or apple tv, maybe a little bit more tinkering but not a lot. Like i know stuff like a raspberry pi with linux or something is an option, but that’s just a little bit too much for me imo. I mainly want to watch youtube (something like smarttube), jellyfin and some streaming services (netlix, prime etc.). I’m in the eu btw

when im on my home wifi its fine and before mobile data and everything worked, but a few days after I rooted my phone (aka today) it just stopped working. When I connect to anything but my family members hotspot (yes that includes mobile data) it has an exclamation mark next to the icon and my vpn doesn’t want to connect cause I have no internet

what I have tried:

rebooted a lot of times

reinstalled my lineageOS version (from the updates page in settings)

changed APN

disabled my vpn and dns

tried in safe mode but I couldn’t even unlock my phone

checked for any apps that might block the connection (I have none as far as i know)

im using a nothing phone 1 and LineageOS 23.2 sep 2 btw

I have no idea what I have done wrong

EDIT: I connected to our modem thing (which didn’t work before) and now it works!!! I still have no internet if im not connected to wifi though

**NOTE: i have only used linux for about a year or so and im not a power user, im basically a tired windows user but i know more stuff than most beginners i feel like? like not a lot more but a little bit ** so when i don’t have anything open my memory usage is like 4-5GB out of 16, which makes it pretty bad when i want to play games (even minecraft can make it so my pc use 99% memory so i have to hard reset, although i might have fixed that) and/or when i want some demanding theming things (like a live wallpaper). “Background services” is using like 4GB and “baloo_file_extractor” is using like 1GB out of the 4. I have done a tiny tiny bit of research and ive found out that baloo is a file indexing thingo, but idrk what file indexing is used for so i don’t know if i should disable it

**EDIT 2 AKA SOLVED: i changed my installation method from session to shizuku in the aurora settings, then i reinstalled the app and it works ** EDIT: it seems like i needed to enable the play store, and when i did the message wasn’t there but it instead opened the play store and asked me to log in, which i won’t do cause i use aurora store

so i downloaded this app (link somewhere here) from the play store and it needs play services, and luckily enough i have it enabled with some permissions. BUT when i open it and wait like 2 seconds a message pops up that says “Check that Google Play is enabled on your device and that you’re using an up-to-date version before opening the app. If the problem persists try reinstalling the app.”
