Technology@lemmy.world•How OpenAI’s human mistake led to the AI-powered hack on Hugging FacebyThe Velour Fog @lemmy.worldEnglish
8 daysWhy would you be be on the side of AI, and completely ignore the fact of it being a massive drain on society and the environment? This isn’t a win, nor is it a reason to glaze AI.
Technology@lemmy.world•Nintendo says users voluntarily paid higher prices, have no right to tariff refunds | Nintendo says Switch buyers got what they paid for, urges court to dismiss lawsuit.byThe Velour Fog @lemmy.worldEnglish
8 daysBack when Nintendo made good consoles. My 3DS has been my daily driver since 2012, and so far only needed to replace the thumbstick because the rubber degraded. It’s a little tank and I love it.
Technology@lemmy.world•You Should Get to Own Your Media, Not Rent it ForeverbyThe Velour Fog @lemmy.worldEnglish
8 daysThat’s what I’ve been saying for years. If you’ve bought digital multimedia like movies, TV shows, software, etc from large corpos, you don’t own it and you are at their mercy. Contracts can expire and licenses can be revoked. Corps want you to own nothing and be grateful for them allowing you the privilege of paying them for a product or service they can rescind at any time for any reason, because fuck you, that’s why.

9 days“It’s not X it’s Y” LLM slop BS.
Comment history is full of similar chatgpt slop.
Edit: go ahead and downvote me all you want but mark my words - in 1 to 3 months this account is going to switch to shilling the online marketing strategy consulting website it’s already heavily advertising in its profile. The website is literally promoting marketing bots pretending to be real people to sell you stuff.

Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI admits responsibility for HuggingFace Attack - an agent from an internal evaluation is reportedly the causebyThe Velour Fog @lemmy.worldEnglish

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What fictional president would have been a good president?byThe Velour Fog @lemmy.world
12 daysStephen Colbert. Though iirc in the marvel universe he won the popular vote but lost the EC vote to Obama.
He still would be a good president.

Technology@lemmy.world•Hack Reveals Suno AI Music Generator Scraped YouTube, Deezer, and GeniusbyThe Velour Fog @lemmy.worldEnglish
14 daysDo you outsource your comments to an LLM? Got a lot of the hallmarks of AI writing here and in your previous comments.
Edit: yeah I’m like 80% certain this is another automated LLM account. Their profile description reeks of it, and except for the first three comments, their comment length is consistent at all times, there is an overuse of colons and “it’s not X it’s Y” statements, and weird formatting choices across the board. This is pretty much a running advertisement for their AI consultant and news (?) platform.
Wat? I was literally just commenting on the verifiable fact that your account is set as a bot account (seriously, check your settings lmao). Don’t involve me in your schizopost.
I sincerely hope that you are able to sort out whatever mental issues are plaguing you.
It’s kinda funny that the person you’re trying to convince that you’re genuine has their account labeled as a bot.
Technology@lemmy.world•DOGE Officially Shuts Down as Trump Administration Ends Government Efficiency OfficebyThe Velour Fog @lemmy.worldEnglish
20 daysBehind the Bastards did a segment on him about 7 or so years ago, which is how I found out about how shitty he was when he was younger.
This article I found on the stairwell incident:
Technology@lemmy.world•DOGE Officially Shuts Down as Trump Administration Ends Government Efficiency OfficebyThe Velour Fog @lemmy.worldEnglish
20 daysHe was always a shitty person. Even in his adolescence.
He made fun of his classmate because his classmates father committed suicide. That classmate responded by shoving him down the stairs. Which honestly should have happened more.
He was always rotten to the core.

If your city has committee meetings that are open to the public, try to attend them if you can. If they allow for residents to ask questions or make requests, you can ask there.
Depending on the size of your city or town it might also have a parks and recreation department. If there is one, you can inquire there how you can go about adding more trees to enhance or expand green spaces.
Also, check any community boards you come across. There might be arborist groups that focus on stuff like this. Even if there isn’t one in your city, there might be one that focuses on the county or state (assuming you are in the US, if not, whatever larger land allotment applies to your country).
Basically it begins with networking. Try to find others that share the same desire for more trees and green spaces and the willingness to effect these positive changes, there is power in numbers.
Hope this helps :)
