As for the hardware:
Hi, I start my journey one year ago when I started degoogling my house.
I have a NAS with docker. And I selfhost :
And time to time I use ReactiveResume when I need to actualise my resume.
Started about 15 years ago hosting media files on a Drobo but quickly realized that wasn’t going to work for me. Moved to Synology for NAS and then finally landed on Unraid 4 years ago.
Currently hosting the usual media stack like plex and *arr. Recently added Grimmory and hooked into my Kobo. Also have Immich deployed. Testing the waters with Tofa as a next project.
Running everything on 112Tb array with a 12600k + 32Gb RAM.
I started in August. Running docker containers on ubuntu server lts minimal, on a ryzen 3 3200g with 16gb ram.
Running:
The domain has no website and no open ports, so Caddy handles routing and automated tls certification via api. External access only via tailscale, per user and per device approval process. Split horizon dns so domain names resolve direct routes to server on lan, and via tailnet from outside.
500GB nvme OS drive rsynched nightly to a second matched nvme in the server. HDD data drives backed up using rsynch to matching sized drives in a DAS unit. Script dumps romm and seafile databases to hdd before rsynch Git pulls to data drive, captured in backup and Syncthing to separate device.
Parallel Pihole and Unbound on a RPi5. RPi5 is primary dns for the lan to spread load, but the config master is the server, RPi is kept in sync with a one way feed from the main server using Syncthing.
Looking into adding openclaw and ollama to play with, maybe use to monitor the server a bit more proactively. Need to plan out permissions and security so nothing dumb happens.

Heyyy, I started because I wanted save money and move away from Google to hosting mini cloud for my whole family that we rely on.
TrueNAS hosts these containers:
Containers that it runs are:
Then I have a VPS for proxy, crowdsec, fail2ban to expose my services.
And also I pay for iDrive e2 bucket to backup everything.
Well this my small production server infrastructure that i am very proud of. And I’m so glad I have UPS for both of the server. Thank you)))
My stack (Docker on Pi 5/Debian) is much bigger than this, but my top three favourites (not in any particular order) are:

Been running this hardware setup since July 2025, although a couple of services have been added in that time. All works really well and has minimal maintenance as everything is fully automated with scripts. -

Welcome to the club. That’s quite an impressive set up you have there. It would seem you have replicated the entire awesome-selfhosted list. LOL At any rate, welcome.

Hey, I’m new here - but not new to self-hosting :-)
Self-hosting started for me via hosting a few services on my NAS - and then it escalated a bit…

More about me can be found there. Also my new blog posts are and will be mostly about self-hosting topics after a longer blogging hiatus of about 15 years. Yes, I know, blogs aren’t exactly in fashion anymore :-)
Looking forward to discussions & fresh ideas from the community!

I’m trying to find something to create Portuguese subtitles for my kids animes, there are a lot of pt_br and I use those when avaliable but there is a lot animes that I can’t find any and I really prefer that they watch in pt_pt ( yes, I’m nagging them to get better in English but read while watching is tricky for them yet)
I have an Asus NUC 12th gen with 32gb of ram and 1 TB of storage atm. I plan on expanding it with a DAS then run with that for a very long while until I can get a nice rack to play with and do some sys admin stuff down the line.
But ATM I got an arrstack going for Movies, TV, and Music. Alongside that I have Stalwart for mail, Immich for photo backup/gallery, Vaultwarden for password and auth manager, and opencloud for cloud storage.
Acronyms, initialisms, abbreviations, contractions, and other phrases which expand to something larger, that I’ve seen in this thread:

|---|---|
| AP | WiFi Access Point |
| DHCP | Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, automates assignment of IPs when connecting to a network |
| DNS | Domain Name Service/System |
| Git | Popular version control system, primarily for code |
| LTS | Long Term Support software version |
| LVM | (Linux) Logical Volume Manager for filesystem mapping |
| LXC | Linux Containers |

| NAS | Network-Attached Storage |
| NUC | Next Unit of Computing brand of Intel small computers |
| NVMe | Non-Volatile Memory Express interface for mass storage |

Hey all, I’ve been slowly building services on my server over many many years, starting with running a minecraft ftb server, to where I am now, which is 1 primary system(providing the network filesystem) and 2 auxiliary minipc systems my brother in law recently donated. I moved from Docker to Docker Swarm after getting those MiniPC’s and enjoying the added compute. Currently my swarm is running:
As I go about my day I’m always looking for new and interesting containers to run, and then scrutinizing if they fill a need, replace an existing service with a better version of the same service, or if it’s better off not implementing, then I pull them down. this has been a great experience in devops learning and the longer I work on the server the more best practices I put in place and the more I understand why corporate clouds have some of the practices they have. I look forward to poking around in this community looking to help and to find new containers to accrete into my platform.
I have been self hosting things for over 15 years. I now host on 7 computers. I’m proud of the fact that I stay under 100W idle, including 3 Omada WLAN APs and network technology (all via PoE and all is on a UPS). For most of the services i normally used the helper scripts. i’m currently in the process of moving everything to komodo. there should be an lxc for each service or service group, komodo pulls the compose files from gitea and deploys everything.

i’m happy to have found an entry point and an alternative to reddit here, even though my second post (question about suitable hardware with 32 answers) has already been deleted. hello everyone!
