Hello again - ok, here we go, made you a 50-track playlist of almost entirely instrumental stuff that I like and which make me smile when they come on. There may be the odd small bit of voice or whatever, but not full lyrics.

I started off doing just house, but ended up with a range of stuff, some techno, acid, etc. Hopefully there’s something you enjoy.

I could put together a list of instrumental house music that I find uplifting, but not sure if that’s the sort of thing you want?

I’ve never listened to a GYBE record, but I did see them live once and it was incredible (and incredibly LOUD). I really should check out their recorded stuff, but I have this sense that it just might not match up to that night 😁

I’ve never read the book, nor seen the modern adaptations, should really remedy that.

We is amazing! Read it recently, alongside Swastika Night, which is very different, but similarly dystopian.

My single favourite book is Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace.

What did you think of The Broom of the System? I’ve started it twice and given up both times. I just cannot get into it at all.

Yeah, true. I think I maybe misunderstood your OP - I thought you were looking to replace ages ratings entirely, as opposed to combining them with something more informative. Something like that could be useful, for sure.

Depends what ratings are intended to do - if they are just to be informative for potential viewers then the kind of system you propose sounds good.

But, if the main purpose is to legally restrict access based on age, such ratings wouldn’t really do the job.

Plus, of course, there’s quite a range within each category - language could mean something as innocuous as “bum”, or something as deeply offensive as “Belgium” or “Barbara Streisand”.

I suppose you could have age ratings for each subcategory - L18, V12, N0, S0, D15, but it’d start to get complicated pretty fast. Plus, presumably, whatever the highest of those ratings was would still be the overall rating. At which point we’re back where we started.
