  • Regarding fairly dangerous sports like snowboarding, downhill skiing, BMX, skateboard, unharnessed climbing etc: I (almost) never do the “one last run”, and those are famously the ones you get injured on. When you are tired and it’s time to go home and rest, I go home and rest instead of doing “just one more” and getting hurt.

I’ve still injured myself but not nearly as much as I might have if I had pushed myself beyond the tiredness. It’s hard to prove the injuries you haven’t sustained though…

  • Those things are not dependent on if you are nice or not (well, it’s easier to make good friends if you are nice, of course).

You’ll never live in easy mode regardless of if you are nice or mean. You need money and other such privileges for easy mode (and even then everyone has their struggles).

You can choose between struggling and being a good person, or struggling and being a bad person. Good or bad doesn’t change the outcome.

  • You should ask them! Maybe they’ll start thinking about it.

I’ve had a few occasions where I’ve gone after someone who left droplets after themselves. I (discreetly) brought them into the bathroom and kindly asked them to please clean up so I can use the toilet. Perfect amount of shame having to clean it up while knowing I’m waiting, in dire need for a wee.

Never had to repeat myself either, but I don’t invite or visit people who would have to hear that more than once. (Except for children and perhaps teenagers, they can need a few reminders if they insist on standing).

  • Bad shit will happen. Shit happens to everyone. It has nothing to do with who you are as a person. But if you’re trying to do good and be good, that can be a comfort in trying times, because how you feel inside is what matters when it comes to who you are.

Do you want to be a good person? What does that mean to you; how do you expect a good person to behave? How do you feel when you act against those expectations?

When shit happens you can feel bad because shit happened AND feel bad because you were rude about it… or you can feel bad because shit happened but ALSO feel good because at least you tried to be kind and understanding and didn’t yell at anyone or make someone else feel bad.

I’d rather feel bad (about things) and good (about myself) than bad (about things) and bad (about myself). That is the reward: at least you tried.

  • Beating the shit out of them. Use a big stick or special tool. If you have a rack nearby you can use it, but otherwise a sturdy fence or railing works as well. Clotheslines will not work.

Between beatings I’ll vacuum topside often, and sometimes turn them over to vacuum underside as well. Your vacuum may have a vent (likely somewhere on the pipe, near where you hold it) you can open for more airflow, to make it easier to vacuum without sucking up the fabric itself.

As a yearly/seasonal cleaning you can scrub them with snow (if you have snow) and a rough brush. Quite fun!
