After almost 5 years, friends still haven’t forgiven me for that board game of Battle Star Galactica where I played as Apollo, was a Cylon and held the titles of CAG, Admiral and President. No one knew I was a Cylon until the end.

Modern people in my experience work under the idea of “everyone’s dirty so it’s fine if I’m doing amoral acts”, if you’re doing the opposite you are showing them that there’s a way, integrity, goodness or whatever you wish to call it. They will hate you for it, but that’s not a fault of your own, it’s just their psyche trying to defend themself, not quite extensional threat but to their eyes it’s an eye sore.
Propaganda and suppression of the left was successful and certain crumbs had to be given in the past decades, currently there’s still enough comfort that many will defend their current status. A comfortable person isn’t going to start asking or rocking the boat, it’s in their interest that the boat is on the steady ride.
Deflection, gaslight and disciplining of those who find themselves in the “have not” becomes a way of comforting yourself that the ride was always within your capability and not dependent on the exterior mechanisms or just plain luck to be born in the lineage of “haves”.

1 monthCorrect, correct. I don’t really have good memories of that place due to some other reasons.

1 monthYeah, I remember an exchange I had, where someone asked what POV means I answered with Point of View and some spoiled Z started laughing, saying I outed myself, but as table top gamer… that was always the abbreviation we used.
Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•[serious] If having a 9 to 5 job is a waste of time and not good enough for finances, then how are other options better? how owning a business is supposed to give more time now?byKnightOfOldEmpire@lemmy.ml
1 monthThere’s no separation, until you become the owner of entire structure and have others doing the work for you.
A cousin opened his business 20 years ago, some time ago, he said that he couldn’t do that in this moment, the space is already over saturated and with online shops from abroad he’s not really making much profit as he used to. How much that holds is a different matter, but what I wish to say is that “just start your own business” isn’t the relief valve.
I find work-life balance completely whacked concept to begin with, as I can’t dissociate myself while I’m going through the endurance and mental tests that work/liberal system forces on me on a daily basis. It’s what I struggling at the moment, as the reward of passing them is just maintenance with maybe occasional treat, if I am lucky.
What I tried to say is that your pay or constrained leisure time isn’t your personal failing, it’s the system that has seemingly increased the flow rate of extraction through its available means.

I have a sweet tooth and after work/blue day, they’re one of those small coping mechanisms. I rather like those red-white strawberries, but for some reason they’re sold only in party packs.
Cola is fine, especially if you take a sip of mineral water afterwards as it dilutes the flavor and kills the extreme want to munch on another. Frogs are nice sweet sour taste but it depends on the state they’re shipped. Sometimes you can get almost oily feel and texture, pure vitamin supplements for sure.
Realistically you can replace them with any alternative gummy bears, Haribo party packs and frogs are a bit brand unique. Luckily I’m not yet in a position where I’d need to save on the expanse of gummy bears.
