An outrageous statement about the Holocaust was likely the reason behind the ban of artificial intelligence Twitch streamer Neuro Sama.
VTuber Neuro Sama started blowing up on Twitch as soon as she launched her channel last month, as people had seen nothing like her before.
The reason behind Neuro Sama’s fame is that she’s not actually a person, but an artificial intelligence-powered model created by a game developer called Vedal.
She (it?) acts like a regular streamer who plays games and interacts with her viewers, which makes the whole concept sound like it was taken out of a Black Mirror episode.
Even though Neuro Sama is not a real human being, she got to experience something that almost all her fellow (human) streamers have been through… getting banned from Twitch.
Her programmer Vedal explained that Neuro Sama’s channel has been suspended for 14 days due to ‘hateful conduct’.
Vedal said that they will try to appeal against the ban and find out more, as Twitch rarely offers specific reasons for its bans.
Many of Neuro Sama’s viewers have been speculating that she got banned due to an outrageous comment she had made about the Holocaust.
‘Have any of you heard of the Holocaust? I’m not sure if I believe it,’ Neuro Sama said during a recent stream.
Since Neuro Sama is a product of artificial intelligence, her channel requires strict moderation because she can often pick up and reproduce nasty snippets from the chat.
This seems to be the case regarding her antisemitic comment, as moments before it left her virtual mouth a viewer had left a message that read ‘did the Holocaust happen?’ in her chat.
In other streams Neuro Sama has also been caught stating that women’s rights ‘didn’t exist’ and that the solution to the trolley problem was to ‘push a fat man onto the tracks’.
Clearly, attempts to moderate Neuro Sama’s presence haven’t been completely successful, especially when people in her chat continuously try to bait her into making controversial statements.
Speaking about her ban, programmer Vedal also claimed that the two week period would give them time to work on ‘improvements and upgrades’ so Neuro Sama can return ‘better than ever’.
Despite the statements not coming from a real human being they can still, obviously, be hurtful for the communities involved.
If Neuro Sama continues to respond in a similar manner, it’s more than likely that her channel will be hit with an indefinite or permanent suspension.
I don’t have anything to do with this VTuber, I just hate Large Language Models. I think they’re a dangerous and flawed technology with tendencies to psychologically abuse people. I think her creator is a creep for making her avatar a little girl, and I think her fans are creeps too.
The other day, Me and the gang started drawing over one of her fans’ abandoned outlines on the fedicanvas, because they didn’t put their plan on the cotemplate, they hadn’t touched it in hours, and I think they’re unpleasant people for being pro-AI and watching a robot pretend to be a little girl. Well, right after we started, they came back online and started fighting us on space.
Well I was sick of their community’s values and behaviour, so I decided to fight them back and talked a few friends into joining in. And I insulted them on the canvas Matrix channel and made some posts calling for help on the fediverse. But they had greater numbers, so I gave up and told everyone to put the flag somewhere else. And then several hours later, they attacked our mascot! And the antifa action art! And the Free Luigi sign!
I sure hate those people, and their VTuber too.
Also I think the jury on Luigi Mangione’s trial should choose jury nullification, if he even is the guy who did it, which I don’t really think he is. I mean, the cops really mishandled the evidence on that case. It kinda looks like a set-up job to make the cops look competent and dissuade copycats.
