      Big tech pays them, that is all they care about. In general (there are very few exceptions) a politician’s only goal is to get elected. Everything else is secondary. Having loads of money helps getting elected.

      I think you underestimate how gullible people on our own side are as well, too.

      The left basically encouraged and egged on child rape as liberatory in the 1970s and only stopped because public opinion didn’t go their way

        Yeah… it is a bit weird that in the last few decades large groups of both sides of American politics have tried to get folk on board with raping kids. That seems like a thing maybe we should question more.

            Oh my God, you’re embarrassing. People discuss history and you freak the fuck out thinking your chosen political party is being insulted. Not sure if you’re genuinely a child or just someone who didn’t pay attention to anything in the world before the last 10 years.

            You should take the time to actually read through the Epstein files for yourself. It’s not just Republicans named in there as abusers. It was first reported the FBI over 30 years ago. It’s not just a Republican administration that sat on it and didn’t do shit. It’s not just a Republican administration that was complicit.

            Go do some reading for yourself. It will be good for you.

            No, no. The group I support is made up of brilliant individuals with strong ethics and morals, but any group I disagree with is a hive mind in which all behaviors of any member of those groups can reasonably be attributed to all of it’s members.

    It’s indicative of the lack of benefit that LLMs are providing. If gen AI was providing tangible benefits to anyone, people would identify a need for data centres.

      I think it’s important to realize that a lot of these data centers aren’t just doing LLM for chat bots

      I’m guessing a lot of Meta’s and xAI’s data centers are mostly training and running content recognition and recommendation models.

      Just speculating, but like HUGE embedding and CLIP models for high resolution databases of all the trash on Instagram/X/tiktok/YouTube paired with large multimodal Recurrent Nueral Nets that look at user’s activity to recommend more content and ads
