After this owl landed on this perch in the shaded woods, I noticed a small area in the background where the setting sun was bathing the trees across the street in a wonderful warm light. The only question was whether I could maneuver myself into a spot where I could capture the glow.
It wasn’t easy. I needed a drastic change in my original position requiring climbing over and under downed trees and heavy brush to the only spot I was able to set up in. Literally a 2-foot shift either left or right and the effect was gone.
I figured the owl would have certainly flown in the time it took me to get to this spot, but luckily, he remained till I got a couple shots off
