This is going to be a real problem for all platforms and marketplaces. Without some form of curation, everything will drown in the wave of slop. This isn’t a new problem, but AI is making it easier than ever to churn out low effort crap… until those token costs start rising enough to make this uneconomical. 🤪

Its one of those walled gardens with a broken car and an upside down shopping cart in it.

Overgrown with noxious weeds and infested with fire ants and malaria-bearing mosquitos.

The garden might be walled, but apparently nobody’s bothered to check for weeds.

They rejected my free app because it was just a web app, and apparently an iOS app should be more than that. That’s their prerogative, but now they let these in. I should have AI rewrite my web app as slop and resubmit it.

This is why it’s ever more critical that people maintin their due diligence when it comes to downloading and installing apps - apple, android, windows, linux or whatever. Shit’s getting hairy out there.

Apple doesn’t care as long as they still make money. There are scam apps I’ve reported many timer and different ways but the apps are still up doing business as usual. One app was called PaceFit. Sort the reviews by new. You will see.

4 daysYou know how those AI slop apps show up in Apple’s bottom line? Just the same 🤑

If broken slop apps crowd out the good, actually usable apps so the App Store just becomes a cesspool of useless garbage, they make no money as people wil abandon trying to find a tool for their problem.

I hate to break it to you but the AppStore has been a cesspool of useless shovelware for over a decade now. There isn’t a whole lot of good at this point to crowd out
