Long story short, turned out I had a flea bug infestation in my apartment and called a guy to fumigate.

What I didn’t realise is I’d have to be out of the place for 24 hours before airing it out.

I don’t know anyone in the city, and I couldn’t find a last minute hotel that didn’t cost my weekly pay. I can’t afford that.

So I walked down the building’ stairs which are part of the hallway, so not outside, and laid down on the dirty, cold floor.

My building has underground parking so I chose the lowest part, with the idea that it’s less likely someone would walk by and see me.

I got scared a few times hearing people walk above me, but luckily no one saw me. The lights have motion sensors so I couldn’t move without activating them. I used a bag for my pillow and a jacket as a blanket.

Doing this in winter was also a bad idea. It gets cold 3 floors below the ground floor.

Surprisingly, I managed to fall asleep which only proves my theory that I could sleep anywhere.

Lesson: Don’t be cheap!

TL;DR: I didn’t want to pay for a hotel so I slept on the stairs.
