35-year-old senior soldier Oleksandr Leshchenko, known by the call sign Boroda, died on November 13, 2025, during a combat mission near the village of Ridkodub in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region. The warrior’s life was cut short by an enemy FPV drone. Three other comrades died alongside him.
Oleksandr was born on February 23, 1990, in the city of Zviahel in the Zhytomyr region. He studied at Zviahel General Secondary School No. 3. After the 11th grade, he enrolled in the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy, but was unable to complete his studies due to family circumstances. For some time, he worked abroad. In 2020, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He lived in the city of Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region.
He met the full-scale invasion in the Kyiv region in the ranks of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. Together with his comrades, he stopped the enemy on the outskirts of the capital. Later, there were fierce battles in the Donetsk region. After numerous wounds, Oleksandr always returned to duty. He mastered several military professions. Later, he transferred to the 44th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He fought in the Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kharkiv regions. Then he defended the Donetsk region again. Recently, he held the position of a UAV operator.
“He was a true patriot, faithful to his country until his last breath. To me, he was a friend, a father, a husband, my soul,” wrote his wife Nataliia.
For his service, Oleksandr Leshchenko was awarded the “Golden Cross” breast badge.
The defender was buried in Bila Tserkva at the Alley of Glory of the Sukhoriarne Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
