Great alternative to other non-native vines like wisteria or honeysuckle. Hoping to get some passionfruits as well this fall!
Edit: as a commenter pointed out that is in fact a carpenter bee not a bumblebee.

I have some coral honeysuckle planted in my yard, too! No flowers on it this year though, hopefully next year…

They do! Apparently pasiflora incarnata fruits aren’t quite as good as the kind you’d get in a supermarket but hopefully they’re still tasty. Haven’t gotten any fruits yet though.

Passionflower is a useful herb to have. Taking it as a tea or tincture to help with relaxation and better sleep.

I make my own passionflower tea from the leaves. I just hang dry the whole branch with leaves in a dark dry place. Cut the leaves when they are dry to the size suitable for one’s strainer.
It does help with anxiety, at least for me. And there is plenty to be anxious of these days.

Leaves and flowers and it will only my medicinal if it’s a native version of Passiflora incarnata. But to harvest:
Harvest the long vines when they’re begining to flower and haven’t yet set much fruit. Let the vines sit in the shade for an hour to give the insects time to crawl off and inspect the vines for caterpillars. Hang to dry or prepare immediately as medicine

That’s a carpenter bee! I have these same flowers and same bees in my yard. I love them! If it’s got a shiny butt, it’s a carpenter bee. Fuzzy butt is a bumble bee. Are you from the southeast US by chance?

Yes I am! Ok, thanks for the note that makes sense because I’ve seen bees that look like them making holes in decks haha. Ill edit my post.
Have you gotten any fruit yet? I have a few, but they aren’t ripe yet. I’m excited to spread the seeds.

Update- I looked today and saw several unripe fruit. Can’t wait to harvest them this fall! :)
