      This had me going down the rabbit hole of the other compression algorithm that has had my interest for a long time: Arithmetic coding.

      It looks like all the patents on that have expired… sooo, original bzip resurrection when?

        Excuse ignorance, but does this mean Davinci resolve could make MP4 videos compatible on linux OS’ now?

            No, this applies to the old mp4 codecs like xvid/divx. Mpeg4 AVC is still patented in some jurisdictions.
